It Gets Better
When we are in the middle of something hard, people telling us “it gets better”, often isn’t helpful.
It is true though. At least for those people who are soul committed to healthy growth and change.
Time doesn’t heal all things, but it does give you distance and perspective.
Show up. Put one foot in front of the other. Spend the day in bed and try again tomorrow. Learn something new. Do something you’ve always wanted, without waiting to be ready. Smile at a stranger. Lift weights. Cook for one. Change a toxic environment. Stress eat a cake. Get hysterical drunk with a bestie. Get a tattoo or a piercing. Meditate. Journal. Talk 💩.
Do whatever you have to do to heal. One day, you wake up and it’s a little easier, then you’re smiling more, then you’re craving veggies, then your alarm goes off, but you were already awake and doing the things.
Taking radical responsibility for yourself and your situation is the hardest thing you’ll ever do. Changing your life when everyone around you is comfortable with dysfunction will hurt worse than anything you’ve experienced. You will feel lonely, scared, overwhelmed, crazy, exhausted.
It is so worth it. 🖤🖤🖤
