It’s Not Fair
We all know life isn’t fair. We have probably even echoed that sentiment to someone else. What we don’t realize is that sometimes fair isn’t the word we are looking for. What we mean to say is Life is not just.
Sometimes there are situations we find ourselves in that don’t end with justice. Sometimes the bad guy gets away. Sometimes we are spreading kindness and goodness and are met with destruction and violence.
We have this idea of karma or reaping what we sow, as something that corresponds to a specific moment or action in time. That isn’t really how it works though. Sometimes being the better person in an unjust scenario doesn’t end with the other party “getting what’s coming to them”, soemtimes we just get blessed in an unrelated area. Sometimes we find abundance way later down our path. Sometimes, we don’t see the blessing at all, and our actions led to a moment in someone else we never even are aware of.
If you are in an unjust moment or season, I see you. I too am intimately acquainted with the despair that can grip you while you feel hopeless and powerless. I too know what it’s like to want to shout the truth at anyone who will listen, and for that justified rage to turn inward to self destruction.
There is no magic trick to sitting with the pain. There’s no holistic tool or life hack. There is only time. Time for you you move out of that moment or season and into the next. Time to make new circumstances that make you glad you are no longer in the old. Time that brings wisdom and the knowing that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and it is in our most painful moments that we are most connected with the divine. Sometimes, the very best reward is who we are when we make it through the struggle. 🖤🖤🖤
